Active For All was founded to make a difference to young people’s lives through education and sport. We are extremely proud to support a local charity who goes above and beyond this in caring for people with life limiting illnesses at the hospice and in the local community”. James Welsh – Founder
Countess Mountbatten House is a special place where people with life limiting illnesses, both in our Hospice and our community, are cared for by a team that delivers ‘over and above’. The Hospice serves a community in excess of 720,000 and our catchment spans 460 square miles. Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity raises approximately £1 million each year for Countess Mountbatten House to achieve this. Tea, Care, Sympathy and so much more. Support from local businesses and our community is essential to ensure that our charity can continue to enhance the quality of the lives of patients and their families. The charity adds to the care provided by Countess Mountbatten House for people at a critical and precious time in their lives. Whilst the NHS delivers the best in medical care, the charity provides those little (and not so little) extras to help make someone’s remaining days as tailored to their wishes as they can be. Small pleasures such as the drinks trolley that comes round twice daily, newspapers, tea and biscuits for families, pain relieving mattresses, our beautiful gardens tendered by our team of volunteers, and beds for overnight visitors all add to improving the experience of the people accessing our hospice. In addition to these things the charity is able to provide many last requests which have included arranging a wedding at the hospice and arranging visits from beloved pets.
